Blue Marlin is a free-roaming pelagic similiar in distribution to black marlin but are less abundant. Large blue marlin have been captured offshore from Bermagui, south of Sydney.

Just like the Black Marlin it is renowned for its speed and acrobatics. A challenge for the most experienced angler.

Australian record 319.00kg.
Best Bait
bait: Slimy mackerel (blue), Yellowtail scad (yakka) lure: Skirted lure
Tackle
Link: 3kg - 60kg Hook: 4/0 - 10/0 Rig: Light, medium & heavy gear for trolling and bait fishing.
Hints
Lure fishing works best, especially over deep offshore canyons where the bigger fish prowl. Lures need to be large, as do the rods, reels and line classes, as when hooked, big blue marlin are capable of stripping 1000 metres of line from a reel.
