Habitat
Tommy rough inhabit the southern coastal waters of Australia from Vic. to the central coast of W.A. They can be found along beaches, off rocks, in estuaries and bays usually attracted to piers and rotting weed banks in search of food. Tommy rough often school in large numbers.
Qualities
Hit baits and small lures voraciously and provide a good fight for their size .

Tackle
Link: 2 - 3kg main line. Hook: No.2 - 9 Baitholder. Rig: Lightly weighted paternoster rig for bottom fishing. Suspend bait under a float for surface fishing.
Hints
Respond well to a berley mix of tuna oil, fish scraps, bread and pollard. Bite best at dawn and dusk. Use a berley cage as the sinker in the rig. A multiple hook set up under a float provides fast action when fish are plentiful. Fish migrate west in large schools during late summer and autumn.
