Habitat
Silver trevally are predominantly a coastal fish preferring inshore reefs, beaches, estuaries, bays, near entrances of estuaries, in recalls and bridge pylons and around big water flows. They are attracted to bait fish grounds with cover from big holes and wharves and are distributed in all Australian states.
Qualities
A fast and dirty fighter providing good sport on light lines.

Tackle
Link: 3kg main line. Hook: No.4 - 2/0 Mustad 92554 Beak. Rig: Single hook with lightest sinker as possible. Lure rig.
Hints
Fish found under lighted areas at night. Push hook through the middle of the whitebait then go under the gill and out through the eye and clove hitch around the tail. Spin with silver wobblers over weed beds. In the surf fish are found in deeper water behind the breakers at the corners of beaches. Fish have a soft mouth requiring care when hooked. Suspending bait under a float in big washes around rocks is productive.
