Habitat
Southern bluefin tuna inhabit the oceans of the southern half of Australia from the mid west coast of W.A. around to N.S.W. including Tas. They are a pelagic species preferring deep water but have been found inshore when conditions are right.
Qualities
An excellent sport fish with heavy fighting ability and unexpected speed.

bait: Slimy mackerel (blue), Yellowtail scad (yakka) lure: Skirted lure, Slice, Slugs
Hints
Lures, live baits and strip baits are best. It is normally taken by trolling small feather jigs at a fairly fast troll speed. It is best to lure cast from a boat. Can be found in water depths in excess of 400m in search of food.
