Size
Grows to 50cm.
Habitat
They can be found in bays, inlets, estuaries, sheltered coastal waters, tidal rivers, lakes and creeks and freshwater rivers. The yellow-eye mullet congregate in schools in the southern waters of Australia with a preferences for areas with sand or mud bottoms in water depths up to 20m.

Good fighting qualities on light gear.

Hints
Respond to any berley. Late summer and autumn the fish are found in bays, estuaries and shallow coastal waters near the mouths of inlets. Prefer warm waters but can tolerate temperatures between 12° - 28°C. Primarily an estuarine resident especially in the juvenile stage and can move out of brackish waters into freshwater sections of coastal streams. Try several baited hooks set under a float near the surface. Surf species use a twin dropper paternoster rig.
