G’day everyone. We have seen a change to some warmer weather and the fishing has also been fantastic. The Snapper seem to be larger with a lot of fish over the 900mm mark and a couple I’ve seen just over the metre. Dhufish have also been great with most catches inside the south west band 45m and under.
The biggest explosion has been the Whiting. The shallow sand bars have seen good numbers around the Penguin Is sand bar and local beaches to the south. King george have also been prevellent. The larger ones in the 30 – 35m line on the sandy weed banks have been awesome with the number of larger specimens around 55cm. These guys have been found along with Dhufish as well.
The southern beaches have turned up some good size Tailor to 50cm and a few herring. Some early season Mulloway have also come from these areas to 15kg. The weed moved in last week but seems to have moved on. Find the deep wholes close to shore. Mew stones also has been great with larger sambos woofing down hooked Tailor.
Squid have improved over the last week and size has increased. Warnbro sound is a good bet.
The dermasal fishing ban starts on the 15th of October till December 15.
Some great shore based fishing and the rivers for bream are firing up so good luck.
