Sorry this report is a bit late. After a long drive from brisbane on the 1st of september we arrived at our destination of Proserpine. We were to meet my parents there as my dad is a keen freshwater fisho. Our plan was to fish Peter Faust dam for Barramundi with dad and to take my wife offshore trolling and reef fishing. Well it rained for two days straight and blew a gale when we arrived,so keen to fish we bit the bullet and slipped the boat in the dam. With rainy squalls of wind we found a quieter stop at the back of the dam and only managed a small Sooty Grunter from dad.Our next day was a contrast no wind or rain! Fished the deep trees and managed to lose 5 barra all over a metre to the sticks. Next day we came up trumps with a barra of 118cms and lost 3 for a morning session. The next day was forecast 5knts so Jules and i decided to troll for mackeral at the cone islands. Managed one Spaniard and lost three with pulled hooks. The wind was up again for the rest of the week so dad and i fished the dam at night landing more barra and losing our fare share. One more attempt at getting offshore was hampered by strong winds so we fished sheltered rocky points with plastics landing trevally, parrot, cod and trout to name a few. Our fortnight stay was cut short by strong wind warnings but have awsome images of big barra nudging our lures. cheers. |
