Launched off Frankston and traveled around to Mornington. Drifted along the rocks right through to Mt Martha. We used a verity of lures and jigs also had 2 calamari jigs just drifting behind the boat as we went with the current. We were jigging soft plastics around the rocks at the edge of the mountain. at first there wasn't much current so the calamari where dead but we where getting all sought of fish at the edge of the rocks. We caught a lot of pinkies and travelly in the first hour but then the tide changed so we moved to a spot which was sort of like a sand bar in the middle of no where. we cleaned up on flat head- 23 between 29-48 cms. for the rest of the day we went for calamari around the rocks and got about 15 average sized ones. plenty of ink that we had to clean. we anchored up at a cove (on a corner of Mt Martha) and dad fell asleep so i berlyied up and caught alot of leather jackets, pinkies and good size garfish. on the way back to the ramp we found a school of salmon on the surface so we stopped and pulled out the soft plastics. we got 10 but then decided to go otherwise we would have cleaned them all out.
All together it was a fantastic day with the sun shinning and barely and wind. |
