Who could believe a Game Fishing Charter off Vanuatu not producing a single fish... Was on a family holiday with another couple and booked with Crusoe charters for a half day game fishing charter. Went with my mate and my 13yo son. Getting out of the harbour we were greeted by 25knot winds and a 2m swell, but ploughed on. Initially tried in close with lures and small live mack tuna for Wahoo and Doggies, saw a free jumping Sailfish which was the highlight of a forgettable day. Scoreboard zip at this stage, and so headed wider with bigger lures for Marlin. Donuts here as well. Added advantage of my son hurling his brekkie over the side (no shame, it was bloody rough), had me punching the air. Luckily I had a few beers in the esky and my sea legs stood the test. Ya gotta have a sense of humour, but still - Vanuatu and no fish!! |
