The nasty weather has kept many anglers in doors this week but those willing to brave the conditions did find some quality fish. While the surf season is still producing the goods, Snapper have really come on the chew in Port Phillip Bay.

LOCAL REPORTS:
SURF:
INVERLOCH:
We have received numerous reports this week from anglers that have been doing very well fishing at Inverloch. Most reports have been that anglers are walking the shoreline from the Boat Ramp to the bend casting metal slugs. This has been very successful for salmon ranging 600g to 1kg. Best of all, there are plenty of fish there at the moment.

This is an example of what can be caught at Inverloch. This fish was caught at Inverloch in the 09 season
KILCINDA:
Some good fish are about at Kilcunda this week with customer Dave Thomas doing very well on the high tide. Dave set a berley trail of pellets and tuna and attracted quite a school of fish to this chosen gutter. In total Dave managed his bag of salmon ranging 800g to 1kg using blue bait.
WESTERN PORT:
TORTISE HEAD BANK:
There has been a few whiting that have been caught on the top of the bank this week. Angler Jason caught 4 whiting on the last hour of the flood tide. This is a good sign, as the weather warms up over the coming months, these fish will become more abundant.
PORT PHILLIP BAY:
MORNINGTON:
Regular customer James Mitchell took his Hobie Outback Kayak out for a spin off Mornington during the week. James caught quite a mixed bag including Pinkie Snapper to 40cm, salmon to 1kg and some nice flathead. All fish were caught using 3” bass minnows and squidgy flick baits.
CARRUM:
Well, things are certainly still on improve with Snapper reports filtering through this week. Matt Cini from Reel time fishing charters has been catching them quite consistently with fish up to 4kg’s common. They have been going best on a tide change with half pilchards doing the job. Staff member Jarrod headed out with Matt on Wednesday in uncomfortable conditions and while the boys managed to hook onto a nice fish, it didn’t make it to the boat as Sammy the seal decided to take it for a meal.
John Camburn from the Sands Angling club sent us a TXT message of his report this week after fishing wide of Carrum. John fished on Friday and picked a beautiful Snapper weighing 4kg’s and a 4kg Gummy Shark. Both fish were caught on squid stirps while fishing in 18 meters of water.

BEAUMARIS:
Customer Ben fished from the Beaumaris Pier during the week with great success. Ben fished for Whiting catching 9 with Pipi’s, but also noticed a rather large school of Garfish.
CLOSE TO TOWN:
McLOUGHLIN’S:
Customer Ron Smith fished Mcloughlins beach with his good mate Tony Curilli. The boys fished on Friday and Saturday to catch good numbers of salmon to 800g. The best technique was to flick soft plastics and small vibe lures and along with the salmon they also managed some nice flathead to 40cm.
INTERSTATE:
SUNSHINE COAST:
Dan Sweet from the Sunshine Coast sent in his report via TXT this week after having a mind blowing whiting session. Dan managed to catch and release 95 winter whiting in Morten Bay in just a 3 hour session.
AIRLIE BEACH:
Another TXT report was also received but from an unknown angler. Even so, he was fishing in the Great Barrier Reef where he managed some nice Spanish Mackeral and Red Throat Emperor.

LAKE DARTMOUTH:
Dave Vendenbroek headed away with local Taxidermist John Whitford last weekend. The lads hit the shores of the Pondage over 4 days to catch and release over 20 trout to 5lb. All the fish were caught using Mudeye’s under a float and worms.
