Bead Head Fly Swap Bead Head Fly Swap
While we may not use bead-head patterns every time we fish, there are certain situations where they'll consistently out perform non B-H flies. Swift flowing streams, deep stillwaters; B-H's can get the fly down quickly, help keep it in the strike zone and add an attractive flash. Nymphs, leeches, buggers, etc. all lend themselves to the addition of a bead-head. Let's be creative and see what everyone comes up with.

The Tiers Pattern Comments
1. Kevin McDonald BH Flash-a-Bugger Wooly buggers are one of the most popular flies of the 90's and this one gets the addition of a conical shaped bead-head and crystal flash to entice our finny friends.
2. Grant Marshall BH Tom Jones Caught fish everywhere on this fly, can be bounced across the bottom or striped fast to imitiate smelt.
3. Colin Hutchinson Bead Hair Excellent bead head for the streams, and lakes, black in colour is very inviting on those overcast days.
4. Rick Zieger BH Nymph Bead head, peacock sword tail, brown ostrich herl body, pheasant body feather hackle. Have caught bass, bluegill, walleye and catfish on this fly. What size hook do you use those most often? I have these from 6 to 12 when I use them.
5. Keith Passant Golden Nugget
6. Gary L. Webb Pink Squirrel This fly was developed by a local fly fisherman, John Brekke from Westby, Wi.. Supposedly he got tired of getting strikes on the BioStrike indicator on his leader. (Give the trout what they want) They do like this one.I have caught Brook, Brown, and Rainbow trout on this fly from streams in western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota. My son-in-law hooked a nice Cutthroat in the Truckee River (Reno, Nevada) Dec. 31, 1998.
7. Paul Leonard BH Prince Nymph I saw Gary Lafontaine tie an interesting variation of the prince nymph so I'll give it a whirl. I think you'll like it.
8. Peter Woodhouse Brown Beadhead Nymph One of the most popular used BH Nymphs, a must for any fly box, best results attained with sinking line.
9. Paul Bitmatta Junior's Beadhead (Black Beadhead Nymph) David Neilson introduced me to this fly on the Goulburn River (Vic). It's a small, attractive fly (well both fish and I think it is !) that has produced excellent results on both streams and lakes.
10. Ashley Morrow Brown BH Damsel Nymph
