Tying Instructions
Tricky bits to watch are getting the length of fibres right by
selecting similar size feathers, and getting hackle to sweep
backwards enough. You should be able to see the tips of each
feather, that is the one in front should not completely cover
the feather under, see photo for proportions. Same style fly
as Rob Sloanes effective Sunset fly.
1) Wrap shank with thread and attach tail
of black hackle fibres.
2) Neatly wrap toward hook eye about ½ way along.
3) Tie in first orange feather wrap forward toward hook eye keeping
wraps close together, if satisfied with thickness, tie off, or
use another feather, when tying off sweep fibres back with hand
and lay a few wraps of thread at the base to ensure they angle
back at less than 45°.
4) Tie in hot pink feather and repeat step 3.
5) Tie in black feather and repeat step 3, then build up a head
of thread and whip finish. |
