Fly Notes
This fly is nothing but a rip-off variation of the New Zealand Scotch Poacher/Craig's night time patterns. I put this fly together looking for a fly that I could use in both low and bright light conditions when chasing smelt on the Western Lakes in Victoria. Under low light conditions the fly's profile will show up well against the sky, and produces a good wake in the water. Under bright light conditions the fly will not be so obvious due to the slim body and colours used.
This fly has also produced for me on the Tongarirro in NZ in bright clear conditions, swung deep.

Fishing Notes
Fishes best with long slow strips. If tied on a big hook, don't forget to strike hard enough to bury the barb.
Targeted species, Trout both Brown and Rainbows.

Location Notes
Lakes, River Mouth, Back Waters especially at dusk, night or early morning.

Prey Notes
Smelt.
