Head :
Black thread.
Tail :
Red hackle under black squirrel tail.
Rib :
Gold wire.
Wings :
Plumbers hemp.
Overwing :
Red hackle fibres.

Bag Fly

Tying Instructions
1) This is a simple fly to tie.
2) Tie in red hackle fibres at the bend of the hook, then the black squirrel over the top.
3) Tie in gold wire and tinsel and wrap thread forward to where body will finish.
4) Wrap tinsel forward as evenly as possible. Tie off when you reach the thread.
5) Wrap gold wire forward to form rib over the tinsel body. Tie off.
6) Cut 3" / 4" length of hemp and untwist slightly.
7) Tie in at the halfway point of the length, then fold back the front half to form a double layered wing.
8) Tie in red hackle overwing and black throat hackle to finish.

Fly Notes

Fishing Notes
Fish on a long leader. Try down and across in a river or stream or cas around structures and strip slowly. The wing material and hackles will pulsate with every movement.
Target species is Trout.

Location Notes
Good fly to fish and search shallow water or fish just beneath the surface.

Prey Notes

Generalist smelt pattern. Represents any small fish.
