1) Put on the bead head place hook in vice.
2) Build up thread near hook eye test with bead so it sits firmly, whip finish.
3) Push up bead to eye build up behind with thread to secure.. cover shank with thread.
4) Attach a few strands of marabou for the tail then dub about ½ way toward the hook eye.
5) Tie in a bunch of olive marabou ( bits with straight shinny tips are best) it should sit at a 45 degree angle ( this can be best achieve with thread with dubbing on it after it has been secured tightly with a few Turns of bare thread wraps. ( the wing should fold back to about 4mm past the hook bend almost to the end of the tail.

Fly Notes

Fishing Notes
It can be a bit heavy in size to fish in shallow slow water but if the depth is there or the current is strong it performs well as an upstream nymph as the drift finishes you can add life with rod movement and fish across then retrieve upstream slowly in jerks giving the bait fish presentation. So you got two chances with one fly.
Fished like a nymph or stripped fast for a smelt pattern.
Target species is Trout.

Location Notes
Fly has worked in all locations, although not made for polarioding. Best fished deep over drop offs in lakes.

Prey Notes

Generalist, attractor, bait fish, nymph. I have had caddis feeders and damsel fly larvae feeders take it with relish.

Tier
Grant Marshall
