Hook : Size
12, long shank.
Thread : Black.
Head : Black thread, coated in black nail polish.
Tail : Light brown marabou.
Rib : Thin copper wire.
Hackle : Red/Brown cape.
Body : Rusty brown/green tinsel. |

Tying Instructions
1.Tie on marabou tail first, length 2 thirds of hook shank length.
2. Tie in some copper wire and tinsel at the base.
3. Wind on the tinsel tying off at the front.
4. Tie in a long Metz hackle or similar and take a couple of
wraps at the front then wind down toward to back at an angle
so fibre spray back.
5. Tie copper wire over the hackle, wiggling it through to avoid
trapping fibres, wrap counter-rotated to the direction the hackle
was wrapped on.
6. Tie off wire at front and then build up a small head. |
Fly Notes |
Fishing Notes
Fished dead slow, with some short
jerks every now and then. Fish it down about a foot using a sinking
leader if necessary or sink tip fly line.
Targeted species, brown trout. |
Location Notes
Good early season fly for Tasmanian
lakes such as Arthurs. |
Prey Notes
Attractor, might also represent a
small yabby or shrimp. |
