Tying Instructions
1) Halfway down shank lay mono, then
tie in shortish bunch of white b/tail mixed with peal flash surrounding
shank.
2) Longer bunch of white on top / slightly forward of last bunch,
with more pearl flash.
3) One more bunch on top with silver flash, this bunch will determine
how long fly is when finished.
4) Tie next a thin bunch of yellow bucktail and coloured flash,
then the blue bucktail and blue flash.
5) Top with peacock herl 5 or 6 strands.
6) Build up head with mono, and epoxy or varnish over, paint
on eyes and add final coat of varnish or epoxy. |
Fly Notes
When building the body tie each bunch
of material close to the eye of the hook so that the last topping
of herl is just before the eye of the hook. |
Fishing Notes
Can be fast stripped if needed. I find it works well dead drift,
or fluttering down like wounded baitfish. Cast towards the school
and hang on.
Target species is Tuna. |
Location Notes
I use it mainly offshore when casting
to tuna breaking the surface chasing pilchards or slimies. |
Prey Notes
Pilchards or slimies, depending on
detailing with texta. |
