Bugeyed Zonker
Baitfish Saltwater

Hook : Long Shank.
Thread : Colour to suit.
Body : Mylar Tubing to suit. Plastic or self adhesive metal tape cut to shape.
Wings : Zonker strip of rabbit or other fur.
Eyes : Plastic stemmed doll eyes. Five minute epoxy.

Tying Instructions
1) Cut plastic or self adhesive tape to shape.
2) Tie in with thread at either ends (suggest using two bobbins).
3) Tie in one end of some Mylar tubing.
4) Tie of that thread.
5) Reverse the Mylar tubing over itself and over the plastic shaped body.
6) Tie off Mylar tubing at hook bend.
7) Tie in another thread/bobbin at hook eye.
8) Tie in end of piece of zonker strip.
9) Tie of that thread.
10) Using thread at hook bend tie in zonker strip at that point.
11) Ensuring all zonker strip fibres are not caught in thread.
12) Tie off thread.
13) Cement thread points.
14) Cut off stems from plastic stemmed dolls eyes, sanding on file or sandpaper till back is smooth.
15) Using quick setting glue like Tarzans Grip glue to sides of fly just behind hook eye.
16) Ensure even alignment of eyes.
17) Once set mix up a little five minute epoxy and fill in gaps between eyes.
18) Place on fly rotary of keep moving by hand until epoxy sets.

Fishing Notes
Standard 9 -12 foot tapered leader. Vary stripping style for various fly actions to reflect wounded or fleeing baitfish. Sink tip fly lines may give better presentations.
Target species includes smaller sizes trout, in medium native species and saltwater species Australian Herring and Salmon Trout. In larger size Flathead.

Location Notes
Anywhere a baitfish will travel. Freshwater or saltwater will define size of pattern. Local baitfish type will reflect colours of materials used.
