Fishing Notes
Use a 9ft leader tapering down to
a 5x with a 2lb tippet, light stuff I hear you say but it works
well. 3 ft up the leader attach an indicator of your choice as
soon as you see it dip or stop "strike". Casting is
not easy with a nymph and indicator so I recommend throwing a
loose loop to prevent tangles. Once in the water mend to stop
drag and if in still water use the figure 8 retrieval with no
indicator just feel the fish strike through the line.
The main species targeted is of course Trout but I would be interested
to know what else it could entice. |
Location Notes
Fast water, lakes or slow runs this
fly can be used in most conditions similar to most nymphs. I
did fish it in some backwaters just recently and it proved effective,
well I caught 3 small browns on it no trophies but still a fish
all the same. |
Prey Notes
This fly is a general nymph pattern
that covers a broad range of insects starting from the Caddis
to the Mayfly. You can add a small bead or change the colour
of the wingcase I'm sure they will all work but fly size is of
more importance, as a fish will reject a fly that is too small
or too large. |
