Fly Notes
Weighted jig.
Original from an article in Fly Tyer Summer 96 p 27. |
Fishing Notes
Full Sinking line with short leader.
Allowed to sink fully, quick stop start retrieve or medium length
strips with small pauses. Repeat till line comes tight, hopefully
not on a snag.
In the saltwater a little berley trailer of minced fish around
any sort of structure will attract baitfish of all sizes. Place
this fly in the berley trail and allowed to sink, then given
short sharp strips with short pauses will see the line tighten
up. A good way of getting kids their first fish on fly. Even
if just for their fathers to use as live bait for mulloway. Though
at times a few larger bream have taken to fly, much to my kids
delight.
Target species includes redfin (English Perch) & Bream, Trevallies
and other schooling species. A great fly in smaller sizes for
gathering larger live bait species like Tommy Ruff, Slimy Mackerel,
Yellowtail Scad and the like. |
Location Notes
Typical structure, steep banks, standing
timber. Better still if you have an electric sounder and a boat
position yourself above a deep water structure where the fish
are holding. |
Prey Notes
Attractor pattern. Could be taken
for a small baitfish. |
