Faux Fur Bugger

Tying Instructions

1) Go to Spotlight or some other craft shop and buy a ball of Faux Fur. It's a type of wool with little tufts off the main strand. I've seen it in black, olive and cream. It's only a few bucks but you could tie a zillion buggers from one ball. The purple marabou was also bought from Spotlight
2) Tie in thread and tie in the purple marabou tail at the curve in the shank. I tie the tails so they're about a hook length long.
3) Tie in the flash on top of the marabou.
4) Strip a few tufts off the end of the faux fur and tie it in at the tail ready for the wrapping. Here's a tip. The faux fur balls are as big as elephant testicles so they're a little awkward to use. I get an empty film canister, pack in as much faux fur as I can, cut that fur off the main ball, slit a hole in the top of the canister and push the end of the faux fur through. Bingo, you've got an instant faux fur bobbin. It works a treat with chenille too. You can tie heaps of flies with a canister of fur.
5) Now wrap the faux fur wool from the tail down the shank to the hook eye. Wrap it tight against itself, making sure you stroke the tufts back as you go. That stops you wrapping the fur over itself and ending up with a lumpy fur bugger. Do it slowly and carefully and you can't go wrong.
6) Whip finish and cement. Easy!
7) Note. I have tied it with bead chain eyes, but I'm not sure if the extra weight is really necessary. The faux fur absorbs water so gets quite heavy when wet. Obviously you could use different coloured marabou in the tail or just tie it all black.

Fly Notes
Basically it's an attractor fly with plenty of profile. The faux fur and marabou combination provide good movement through the water.

Fishing Notes
Target species includes, Trout at night, carp and bass should be viable targets too.

Location Notes
Use it anywhere you'd fish a normal wooly bugger.

Prey Notes

Prey mght think it's a yabby or even a baitfish.
