Furry Foam Crab

Hook : Mustad 3407 6 - 1/0.
Antennae :
Fuzz from the bottom of hackle.
Claws : Small rounded feathers.
Body : Estaz.
Shell : 3/8" square of furry foam.
Legs : Plastic spinner bait skirt.
Weight : Lead wire or wine bottle lead.

Tying Instructions

1) Tie in fuzz from base of hackle feather at bend of hook.
2) Make a bump of thread.
3) Tie in a small rounded feather on either side of hook shank.
4) Tie in Furry Foam by a corner of the square where the remainder lays back towards bend.
5) Tie in Estaz.
6) Wrap thread to the eye of the hook.
7) Wrap the estaz to the the eye of the hook make a couple of wraps of thread to secure.
8) Pull down Furry Foam and bind down opposite corner.
9) Whip finish and cement.
10) Take one or two strands of plastic skirt material and thread through the eye of a needle.
12) Run this through the center of the fly shell puncture the foam but do not go through to the outside.
13) If you use a tan colored foam and carry some colored markers you can make this pattern match any crab found.
