Fly Notes
Fly was developed by John Horsey a
professional guide in the UK. He used it in a national rivers
eliminator and won the match. He took 23 fish on this and the
dropper fly with most coming to the Nuggett. I have used the
fly on local rivers with my best haul being 9 fish.
However care must be taken to avoid hitting the rod tip. A friend
of mine lost the top four inches of his rod when he clipped it
with the leaded version of this fly. For a short while he renamed
the fly. |
Fishing Notes
Leader is normally a straight through
6lb leader with a dropper. The fly is normally fished Polish
rolled nymph style which is leader only out of the tip ring NO
fly line. The dropper will normally have an unweighted fly attached.
The Nuggett will roll or bounce along the river bed with the
dropper fly fishing between 12 & 18 inches above it. Both
flies will take the fish.
Target species Grayling. |
Location Notes
Fish the fly in fast water over gravel
bottoms. The weight will get the fly down to the target fish
which in this case is Grayling. |
Prey Notes
Generalist cased caddis pattern. |
