Goldfish

Tying Instructions

1. Run thread to bend in hook, Tie in a length of White Bucktail, with the front of the bucktail level with the back of the eye of the hook. This will form the body, after 2 or 3 turns of the thread, run the thread up the hook towards the eye. Starting off pretty tight, slacking off in the middle and going tight again as you reach the eye, trying to give an oval shape to the body. Run the thread back to the bend.
2. Tie in a length of flat gold tinsel, run thread to eye, remember to leave enough room to tie in the wing. Wind the tinsel up to the thread, overlapping as you go. Tie off
3. Tie in the white bucktail wing, shape the head with the thread, I try to achieve a nice tapered head, select a few strands of Flashabou, slightly longer than the bucktail, tie in on top of the Bucktail.
4. Finish of with a whip finishes, and varnish the head.
5. Variations: Use different tinsels on the body, Silver, red copper etc. Use different colour Bucktail to add stripes and colours. Possibilities are endless.
