Hammer Bigeye Baitfish Saltwater Hook : 3/0 34007 Mustad or Tiemco 800s Thread : Clear mono. Eyes : Silver eyes with black pupil. Head : Epoxy. Tail : White saddle hackles with blue grizzle down each side. Flash : Mix purple and electric blue Krystalflash. Wings : White bucktail tied as you would a deceiver. Collar : Blue marabou or crosscut zonker strip.
Tying Instructions Just tie the fly as you would a pink thing but instead of bead chain eyes tie in a dear drop shape piece of plastic ( I use shirt boxes ) and stick the eyes on to that. Then epoxy the head
Fly Notes
Fishing Notes Fish a reasonably short leader of about 6' with a good shock tippet, for the toothies. Works well on any species that will eat a fish. I use it with great success on tailor and salmon in smaller sizes.
Location Notes This particular fly has been very successful around offshore reefs as well as in the rivers for barra, jacks ,queenies and GT's.
Prey Notes Imitates a variety of baitfish, like the pilchards and slimies.
