Hammer Shrimp

Tying Instructions

The pattern itself is fairly self explanatory, the only tip I find is very important to splay the wood duck fibres so that they pulse going through the water.

Fly Notes

Fishing Notes
The only fish I have ever taken on this fly are bream. I have had no other incidental catches,
apart from those annoying little pinkies.
Fish this fly off a long leader with as light a tippet as you dare, use a floating line in the shallow water and a clear intermediate line in the deeper water.

Location Notes
This fly fishes well over the weed beds in clear water when the bream are a little timid. Also works well in low light situations.

Prey Notes

This fly acts as a impressionistic imitation of a shrimp.
