Crustacean Saltwater
Hook : Mustad
34007, Tiemco 800s or any equivalent Size 6.
Thread : Yellow.
Eyes : Home made prism eyed lead dumbbell eys (see notes
below).
Body : Epoxy over silicone base.
Tail : White or tan craft fur - polarfibre or the like. Optional
touch of Pearl Krystalflash. |

Tying Instructions
1. Tie thread at hook bend.
2. Tie in short length medium clump of your tail material.
3. You want this material to go evenly each side of the hook
bend. Predominantly angling away from hook shank.
4. Tie in a few strands of pearl Krystalflash if desired.
5. Tie in eyes at midway point along remaining hook shank - see
notes below for how to make your own prism eye lead dumbbell
eyes (much cheaper then the store bought ones - I even make my
own lead dumbbells now article on that on the web site soon).
6. Take a blob of Selley's allclear silicone and form a diamond
shaped head a touch smaller than you desire (due to the next
step) let dry for 24 hours.
7. Mix a little five minute epoxy give the silicone a light layer
of it.
8. Set in rotating fly dryer till set or just do one at a time
and use your fingers till set. |

Fly Notes
Got this fly from a book called Innovative
Saltwater Flies. Tied by Tim Borski. Has worked very well for
clear water sand bank applications for me.

Fishing Notes
Sink tip (Cortland 444 tropical ghost tip is perfect) or intermediate
even a sinking line all can be used. Get fly to bottom and flick
along with pauses between strips.
Target species include, Bream, trevally, flathead. |
Location Notes
Anywhere in an estuary system. |
Prey Notes
Crustacean attractor type imitation, darker colourings could
pass off as a crab. |
