Mega Minnow

Tying Instructions
1) First take small amount of mega hair and attach to top side of hook, about 1 ½ times the hook length.
2) Take a second bunch that is just a little longer than the first and tie it over the top of the first.
3) Turn hook upside down and tie in bunch that just goes past the hook bend.
4) Back on top of the fly tie in some Gliss & Glow over the top of the hair extending just past the end of the hair, do the same on the underside of the fly.
6) Now tie in chartreuse over wing to finish about the same as the white underwing, not to much hair as the fly will hold to much water.
7) Now tie in a long length of emerald rainbow sparkle flash that finishes just shy of the overwing.
8) The left over sparkle flash should be tied in on the very top of the fly, this is very important as this gives the high shoulder (if you will) profile of a baitfish.
9) Next turn the fly over and tie in some red crystal flash for the bleeding gill effect.
10) finally to attach the eyes, I stick them on to a piece of plastic shirt box and cut around the eye leaving a small tag that you can tie into the head. This makes it a lot easier to epoxy around the eyes and keeps them even.
11) Finally give the head and between the eyes a liberal coating of epoxy and the go catch yourself a tuna.

Fly Notes

Fishing Notes
Keep the leaders as short as you dare, this fly doesn't hold much water when you are going for a cast so you can fish a little lighter in the rod department.
Tuna and Kingfish are the primary targets, although as big as they are you still get quite a few salmon in close. Have also taken dolphin fish on this fly.

Location Notes
This fly is at home right amongst the berley, where the yakka's are having a feed. All you need to do is feed the fly deep down in the trail, below all the real yakka's and twitch it back up to the boat. Really good when the tuna are down deep and a little timid. Also dynamite on the kingies down deep.

Prey Notes
Represents a yellowtail scad.
