New England Yabby

Tying Instructions
1) This is a simple fly to tie.
2) Tie in a tuft of squirrel tail at the bend of the hook and then separate into two even portions by figure eighting with the thread. I put a drop of super glue on the shank of the hook to prevent the fur from twisting out of alignment while fishing.
3) Tie in the bead chain eyes on top of shank, about 5mm from the split in the tail. I also put a drop of glue here to anchor the eyes.
4) Dub some possum fur onto the thread and wrap forward and behind the eye, using figure eight action to cover the shank of the eyes. Continue towards the eye of the hook for around 5mm and then tie in the hackle feather.
5) Take a couple of wraps with the hackle (wet fly style) and tie off.
6) Dub some fur and form another segment of body. I wrap over the hackle feather and then take a couple of turns with the hackle and tie off again.
7) Again , dub some more fur and form a segment of body. Take another wrap with the hackle.
8) Form a last segment of body with dubbed fur(over the hackle feather which is held down along the top of the hook shank.)
9) Whip finish the fly.
10) What's left of the hackle feather should be protruding over the eye of the hook. Trim to look like tail fin.
11) Cement whip finish.
