Tying Instructions
Tie in the black marabou tail, and then add the flashes of hot
orange to each side. Don't overdo the orange, just enough to
represent the lighter color on the inside of the frogs legs.
If you desire a rib, secure it now, then tie in your hackle feather
by the tip. Still at the barb, tie in the orange chenille on
the underside of the shank, and then tie in your olive chenille.
Wind the olive chenille forward, making a smooth body. Pull the
orange chenille up to the head area, making sure it stays on
the bottom of the shank. Secure it at the head. Wind your hackle
forward; this helps to secure the belly. If you chose a rib,
wind this forward through the hackle, taking care not to trap
any hackle barbs. Form a neat head, whip finish, varnish. |
Fly Notes |
Fishing Notes
Not a difficult, bulky fly to cast,
with little or no added weight. You want the fly to land fairly
gently, if chasing tailers, and then 'hover', or sink very slowly.
Targeted species, primarily a trout fly. |
Location Notes
Fish in shallow lake margins, or to
fish that you think may be chasing frogs. |
Prey Notes
Designed as a frog representation,
with the lighter belly, and flashes of color in the tail to represent
the inside of the leg. |
