Tying Instructions
1) Place hook in vise and attach the
bead to the top of the shank.
2) Cut a piece of E-Z Body to match prey and hook size, take
hook out of vise and thread it through the E-Z Body, place back
into vise.
3) Slide one end of E-Z Body over the eye of the hook and secure
tightly with thread whip finish and trim.
4) Wet a marabou feather and slide inside the E-Z Body so that
a portion of it sticks out of the back.
5) Firmly press down on the rear portion of the E-Z Body and
wrap thread tightly around it to secure and close it off.
6) Color the body as you see fit if using paints, if using permanent
ink markers apply a thin coating of epoxy first before adding
color. Also attach any eyes, gill plates etc. at this time.
7) Finally apply a coat of epoxy to seal and strengthen the E-Z
Body. If you would like a thinner tapered body pull and stretch
the body before the epoxy cures. If you are looking for a shorter
fatter looking body push the tail end towards the eye of the
hook until you get it how you want it, hold in position until
epoxy cures. Use epoxy sparingly and apply several coats instead
of one heavy coat. |
Fly Notes
Any glass or plastic tubular rattle
may be used instead of the one above, this one has a neat feature
for attaching it to the hook.
Carry some all white or all opalescent flies and color them
to match the prey fish you find while on the site.
Size of the flies are only limited by the size of materials you
can find to build them. |
Fishing Notes
Cast to a selected area and let fly
settle for a few seconds, then begin a series of quick strips
followed by a few slow strips. If casting to feeding fish let
this fly drop below the bait being eaten so it flutters down
below the school, then strip one or two long strips and let fall
again.
May be used to catch any fish that eats other fish. |
Location Notes
Best if used in open water areas near
structure. Great fly to throw to any fish busting bait. |
Prey Notes
Can be colored to imitate most any
baitfish. |
