Tying Instructions
1) Place hook in vice, start thread at eye and wrap hook shank
finishing at a position perpendicular to the barb.
2) Tie in tail and chenille, trim excess.
3) Take thread back along shank so that it is just short of the
half way mark, wind on chenille and secure and trim.
4) Tie in hackle wind approximately 5 turns and secure, stroke
the hackle rearwards and wrap a few turns of thread around the
base to ensure hackle lays reasonably flat on body.
5) Take the thread along shank so it is just short of the head,
tie in chenille and repeat as above. Make a nice head with thread
and whip finish, varnish if desired. |
Fly Notes |
Fishing Notes
Generally use a 9-12 foot leader on
a floating line and retrieve using a slow figure of 8 retrieve,
it is also very effective fished down and across on either a
floating line or sinking line depending on water depth and flow.
It is also very effective when fished on the bottom and retrieved
ever so slowly, the takes barely detectable.
Target species includes, Brown and rainbow trout. |
Location Notes
The Fuzzy Wuzzy is a great night time fly which is one of the
easiest styles to tie, I have found it extremely effective on
lake Eucumbene after dark when cast to audible rises. |
Prey Notes
The pattern was originally developed to represent Koura (New
Zealand freshwater cray fish). |
