Hook : Mustad
34007 No.4 - 2/0.
Thread : Danvilles flat waxed nylon.
Head : Thread.
Tail : Splayed hackle feathers, crystal flash.
Hackle : 4 - 6 hackles, same as tail. |
|
Tying Instructions
1) Tie in thread at end at back third of hook.
2) Tie in 4 saddle hackles on each side of hook, so that they
curve outwards.
3) Add small amount (I use 4) strands of crystal flash to both
sides.
4) Tie in two hackles, tie these in thickly and then add two
more- continue until hackles reach.
5) Tie off hackles at area near head, then tie off and lock.
6) Apply head cement. |
Fly Notes
Fly has a large hackle and a huge
surface area which provides a dead drift to very shallow sink. |
Fishing Notes
Salmon, snook, flathead. I imagine that it would be great for
saratoga, barramundi, tarpon.
Fly may float initially, works well once wet. |
Location Notes
Excellent fly for shallow water work. |
Prey Notes
Baitfish or prawn depending on colours
of fly. |
