Simple Fur Fly
Streamer Freshwater
Hook : Tiemco
5263 sizes 10-16.
Thread : Same colour as fur 6/0.
Tail : Cock fibres same colours as fur ( black, olive
natural etc ).
Body : Rabbit Zonker strip, self dyed and cross cut pelt
works best. |
|
Tying Instructions
1) Tie in tail, work thread to hook eye.
2) tie in rabbit fur then try and spin to give an overall coverage
around the hook shank, ensuring fur sweeps back toward hook bend.
3) tie off behind hook eye and whip finish. |
Fly Notes
The only thing I have found is that
a natural pelt you have dyed, works a lot better than zonker
strip. It seems to have more guts, the zonker strips are a bit
too fine. |
Fishing Notes
Let it sink and strip and pause slowly,
or you can retrieve just under the surface with a figure of 8
retrieve, causing a small wake when mudeyes are about can be
productive.
Target species includes, Trout. |
Location Notes
Night time lake fishing for trout over or near weed beds, drop-offs
or shallows. |
Prey Notes
Generalist night time fly, could represent mudeyes, small yabbies,
or smelt. |
