Tim's Black Surprise

Tying Instructions
1) Start by wrapping the hook with black cotton, to just before the curve.
2) Tie in 10 to 15 strands of dark ostrich feather.
3) Half way up the shank tie black deer hair.
4) Pull the cotton tight so the hair stands up.
5) The under carriage is red feather from a feather duster.
6) Tie this from under the eye and wrap back 3 to 4 mm to build up the head.
7) If preferred eyes can be added, I use a liquid paper pen and laundry markers to do this, or could use barbell eyes or boggly eyes from craft shop.

Fly Notes

Fishing Notes
Use standard bream setup. 5-6 ft tippet, small jerky movements to make it look sick or injured.
This is a simple fly to tie and is effective on flathead and bream.

Location Notes
Mouths or inlets to lakes or bays with sandy bottoms.

Prey Notes
Attractor fly.
