Thread : Black 8/0.
Body : Green flashabou.
Wing : Black cock hackle tied 'wonderwing' style.
Hackle : Black cock hackle. |

Tying Instructions
1) Lay down a bed thread, advance thread to hook bend.
2) Tie in some flashabou, advance thread to hook eye.
3) Wrap flashabou over hook to form slim body.
4) Take a wide cock hackle from the back of the cape.
5) Stroke the feahter to cause the hackle barbuiules to fold
the opposite way to form the 'wonderwing'
6) While holding on to the hackle tie in the wing.
7) Trim the hackle at the point where no barbules are folded
forward.
8) Trim any hackle hanging over the hook eye past the tie in
point.
9) Add a little head cement to tie in point and give a couple
of wraps to force glue into tie in point.
10) Tie in butt of small cock hackle from front of cape.
11) Form standard dry fly hackle behind hook eye.
12) Tie off thread and trim excess.. |
Fly Notes
Variations include adding two feelers
for a sedge pattern but use brown hackles not black. Also tie
pattern with grizzle hackles only, even palmering flashabou body
(trim top before tying in wonderwing) add further 'ummpfff' to
the pattern.
Another variation of the tying style is to tie in tent style
two white wonderwings, for a adult caddis pattern. |
Fishing Notes
Look for subtle sips or porpoising trout which would at times
indicate a midge hatch.
Target species include Trout, Silver Perch. |

Flying midge, could also be a flying ant. |
