The Tiers Pattern Comments
1. Ian Mitchell Bead Head Hare & Copper Great versatile fly for clear water and big browns.
2. Bill Rendall Dark Skip Nymph A terrific, easy to ty and very effective cross between a Pheasant tail and Gold Rib Hairs Ear - designed by Skip Morris -USA. (If anything works this will) :)
3. Ashley Morrow Brown & Peacock Bead Head A versatile nymph incorporating the magic of peacock with the good all round performer of chocolate brown. It has been a consistent taker of Rainbows on the big T & even fooled a few South Island browns.
4. Stephen Welsh Wigram's Brown Nymph Variant A favourite nymph pattern for a variety of fishing scenarios.
5. Trevor Hitchen Dark Brown Attractor Nymph Sight cast this nymph to Trout & Carp and hold on!
6. Arron Davies Brown Stonefly Dont know whether this is originial or not. Its a stonefly imitation with legs and gills for natural effect.
7. Kym Goldsworthy Peacock Shwapf A SHWAPF (swept hackle, wingless, all purpose fly) is a style of fly tying rather than a particular fly. It's easy to tie and infinitely adaptable. I'll have a crack at a water boatman imitation. Perhaps more strictly nymph-ish than nymph.
8. Brendan O'Farrell The Hydro - Caddis Pupae Fish this nymph at the head of a plunge pool coming off a fast riffle. Brownies will sit here and pick off caddis' getting caught in the current of the riffle.
9. Ezra Bibby Scraggly Brown Beadhead Nothing secret about this one. Always the first beadhead I use, and I have had succes in a variety of locations.
10. Dean Ansell Binni Bronze My one and only carp nymph that has also taken the trout.
