Nymph Pattern Fly Swap Nymph Pattern Fly Swap
For every insect taken off the surface, 40 or more are taken below. Thousands of insects at various stages of growth live in water, so having a good selection of nymph patterns is paramount to successful fishing. Tying some nymph patterns can be very simple, some of the first patterns we learn would be nymph patterns.

The Tiers Pattern Comments
1. Richard Carter Floating Damsel Catches trout taking damsels at various stages of hatching.
2. Grant The G.G. Can be fished unweighted as a mudeye with mono eyes or as a forage fish - Gudgeon fished deeper with lead eyes. Great for lakes where browns cruise the shallows for either of these two common foods. Also works on tempremental spawners outfishing the glowbug many times.
3. Colin Hutchinson Pheasant Tail Nymph Ideal for exploring & blind fishing.
4. Dean Hamilton Brush Possum Nymph This little nymph works well tied on a #14. It's made from the fur of a brush tail possum & is only a new fly but has caught fish on all three trips it has been on.
5. Haggis Suspender Buzzer Great Little nymph, lies suspended in the water film, really easy to tie and works great on cruising trout.
6. Kevin McDonald Rangitaiki Rubber Legs This heavily weighted stonefly nymph with it's life-like rubber legs is irresistible to large trout.
7. Steve Merrifield Green Seals Fur Nymph A good early-season fly for bright sunny days tied on a #16-#12 with natural raffia wing cases. Had lots of success with this pattern.
8. Ashley Morrow Hare & Copper A deadly & very popular fly in New Zealand. So far I haven't found a trout that doesn't like them.
9. Shaun EZ Nymph Would love to tie an EZ nymph. I have chosen this as it is a good beginning nymph pattern and I have never tied for freshwater.
10. Peter Woodhouse Brown Nymph
