Are these correct pinouts for the communication connector for Matrix:
1. + 12Vdc
2. Gnd
3. RS485 +
4. RS485 -
5. Serial in
6. serial out
Which ones do I use to connect to my Garmin eTrex Vista with NMEA interface pinouts:
1. Power +3V
2. Data In
3. Data Out
4. GND
I suppose that the +12V connector on the Matrix should not be used? This is however included in Humminbird handheld GPS connecting kit.
What about connecting a PC to the Matrix? Should Matrix pin 2,5 and 6 be used for RS232?
This may be wrong if my information on pinouts are wrong.
Please help if anyone knows.

Yes, I had a look at that. It will give me the correct pinouts for PC-Matrix interface.
But I would also like to connect my Garmin eTrex Vista to the Matrix. And those stupid cables are just to expensive if an easier/cheaper aproach can be used |

To connect your Humminbird Matrix series to a PC just connect pins 2,5, and 6 to a serial port.
Humminbird DB9 Serial port
=======================================
pin 2(ground) pin 5(ground)
pin 5(serial in) pin 3(transmit data)
pin 6(serial out) pin 4(receive data)
If you have a Humminbird GPS pigtail the ground is the bare wire, serial(NMEA)in is the green wire, and serial(NMEA)out is the white wire. I made my own cable after purchasing my Matrix 37 and it works beautifully.
I used the 'Y' cable and cut off the NMEA com end to make my cable because I only have the GPS hooked up to my unit.
I used the end that I cut off of the 'Y' cable and hooked it up to a DB9 serial cable and added a 12 volt battery connection via a fused cigarette lighter plug to connect the Humminbird GPS receiver to my laptop. It works just as well on my laptop with mapping software as an older Magellan handheld GPS unit that I used to have.
I hope everyone finds this useful.
