| I want to start building my own rods. I have been looking around a bit and its hard to make a decision. can anyone recommend a decent rod lathe? cheers |

I use an Alps lathe and it's fine.
I'd go for the chuck upgrade though.
I think they're all OK, so jus look around for a good deal. |

Hi Mate,
I know this isn't shopping locally but I bought a Pacific Bay rod lathe with the upgraded chuck for $322 US plus $140 us postage. That totalled $462 us which was $492 Australia dollars. I bought it from Mudhole tackle when the dollar was good. Make sure you get the international model that runs on 240 volts. It came in less than 5 working days. For those who want to come out and say I should have paid the $200+ extra to buy one in Australia. I would say to them they either have too much money, no brains or principals that just don't exist much anymore. |
