Hi , i got a brand new waeco cf-80 today, had it plugged in since 3pm and it is still reading at 17 degrees, seems like it is very hard to do something wrong, plug it in and turn it on, is this normal, i have tried to set the temp to -15 and have a large bottle of water in it, the fan is going and no warning lights are on. any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Doesn't sound promising for a new fridge mate. Could be a manufacturing fault causing thermister to not read correctly (ie not in contact with surface of cooling compartment). If you can verify that the reading is correct by using a thermometer in the cooling compartment, then it is a compressor or controller problem (although I'd expect fault indications in this case). In any case I'd take it back and get a replacement (not a warranty repair) as it is showing the fault from brand new, meaning the item wasn't fit to do it's advertised job.

I just got a different brand 12v 80ltr freezer was down to -18 from over 25 in less than 2hrs with a can of pepsi max in it. I rekon you should take it back.

Andrew is on the mark, take it back. I have a Evakool cool mate Fridge freezer. From unplugged to full on, the fridge goes from 30Deg to -17Deg (nothing in it) in about 15 mins.
