Yeah Yeah...I've been a bit crook so have not been down since last Thursday..."NO the Thursday before". Now I'm thinking withdrawals.
A bit of tidying up of my glass work has been done as well as those little V slots in bottom corners of the wave breaker.
And Yes a lot more grinding and sanding underneath.
Will try to get down Tuesday this week and see if I can throw up a few more 'Firecat Porn Pics' laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif

Thanks for the continued interest.

Regards Steve.

Have been a bit 'off' for a few days and have only been able to sneak to down to Hastings today.

As it goes at the moment more grinding and sanding.

'Fairing up' of corners of the cab look real good and will give a great surface when the undercoat goes on.

Those dinky little triangle slots up front are in the past with in-fills glassed up and ground back to follow original bow angles.

Gunnel to wall bulk-heads have also had attention with my 'pee before your pants are down idea' 'out-rigger' holes filled and patched.

With the 'roof console' idea gone and the 're-enforcing plate' secure in place I am adding a cover up pair of mouldings that will in fact 'cover up' my Radio aerial co-ax in a loop instead of shortening the pre-tuned cable.
Will also serve as a wiring conduit for radios and 'LED' down lights.

("Both Radio co-ax will come into roof from Port and Starboard putting all transmit/receive interference at least a metre from Sounders and GPS...AM/FM/CD/MP3 player/receiver co-ax will run down Port window corner for 'Dash mount".)

My dinky little cab roof covers are glassed and a lot of 'white' fill was on as well making... "well the cab sure looked different" and if this is what 'WHITE' is all about in the colour stakes it's sold me.(even before a fill, sand and undercoat)

And then a little bit of dash configuration got under way with some cutting and shutting here and of coarse there.

"6 figures plus a bit".

Thanks for starting this thread Stan (crozz001)
And for all the comments......Both positive and negative and all those in between.

Many ideas from a lot of correspondence have been weighed up and dissected along the way.

More Friday I hope cool-fish.gif

Down the highway again today and as I had no doubt progression was just that.
More fairing and filling and a few smudges of flow coat here and there sure makes a difference.

The transom, sides, cab corners and of course underneath have all had attention.

We layed up the 'Sounder/GPS' mounting panel and before trimming and re-shaping it will go up nicely.
Mould taken from ' starboard dash corner' that was removed for 'steering/control cable routing'.
This may be set with 'St' side slightly forward for a better view under way.

Ash set up the moulds for the 'window frames' with perspex templates on a lay up board and gave them a flow coat tonight for glassing perhaps tomorrow.
As I was originally going to use Perspex all round for windows I had a spare sheet which saved possible damage to front windows during lay up.
Sides will be cut to suit after 'frames' are sorted.

I also messed around in the Cabin and fitted up the Radios to the roof panel. HF to 'ST' 27 Meg to 'PT'

More Tuesday cool-fish.gif

Regards Steve.

Just a little update.
I was hoping for some great pics of the 'window frames' and was glad I never went down to the boat on Monday as I'm told it was not a happy place.
Our 'perspex plugs' refused to release and Ash was a bit p...ed off.
The frames looked great bar the stinking perspex stuck in the middle.
But never say never as the concept was the way to go so Ash re-did the plugs and tomorrow they all should be done along with maybe the 'glassed in dash'

Old frame arrangement.

Mk 11 version.

They really get stuck in. A bit different from boatbuilders I have crossed paths with.

Haven't seen them yet but the Mk11 window frames have released OK.
Once these (1) piece frames are trimmed up it's just a formality of resin glueing them into the windows slots, fairing them up and fitting the panels.
No frame leaks as they are glassed in as part of the sides and wave breaker.
Sika wiped in and it will be just like a 'bought one' laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif

Won't get pics until Wednesday but will throw them up ASAP.

I love your optimism - Only a formality with the windows.

Nothing has been only a formality in my experience!

Wait till you see some on my photos. I'll scare you! Happy Halloween!

A small report but an 'update' just the same.

Widow frames are coming along with (3) complete,(2) on the bench and (1) I fitted in and bogged up today.
(sure hope I glued it up OK as it will be a mongrel to pry out and re-do)

(2) more being 'cooked'.
