I had been waiting for your report with "baited breath", gee shame you didn't go as you hoped. I have no doubt the cold weather stuffed you guys, mulloway are one frustrating fish, but that makes them a holy Grail.
It's hard to believe you didnt get one keeper in 2 weeks but we only got 2 over 6 days too and we fished almost 20 hours a day.

We only fished 8 days and on the second day we were there we fished the hole in front of Bob's Kitchen 1 and the guys caught 3 big Mulloway to 22kg at Geues, so we were told. Apart from that either nobody caught fish or didn't fish at all. My mate went there 3 times and caught fish to 92lb. He emhasised to fish the hot days in particular but we only had the one day at the start at 35degrees and then it died in the arse. There are still 2 guys i know at Hilton for a few days, hopefully they do better once it cleares up.

All i been doing lately is squidding for the trip to Yalata which we returned from today. Considering the effort that goes into getting there, it was dissapointing we didn't get any good sized ones, just 21 soapies between 20 and 60cm and 11 gummies. Great place though.

Yeah, sure was tough going. The other two fellas had to pull the pin yesterday as well. I let Pete tell the story if he wants to. As for the quad bikes, it's definetly the go although we walked about 4k's to a hole and got only small one's. I'm convinced even if we had quaddies we would have lucked out.

Well done Dawso, your results speak for themselves and your report was a good read. Well done Frank, Brad and Ash followed your updates of your trip through to your final report which also was a good read. Been hitting the surf down Wonthaggi way again lately for a few gummies and dropped schoolies. Fished Saturday night for 2 gummies, one at 9kg and a landbased PB of 170cm and 23kg.
Took of nice a slow a just built up speed, only had 4 wraps left on the spool while standing in waist depth water before it turned and went up the beach.
15 minutes later and a few tense moments finally had it on the sand.
Went for a walk down altona, saw a whole heap of ppl fishing off the pier. didnt see many fish though, one flathead and a guy said he dropped something larger.
Thought i'd do a bit of floundering with a mate, wind didnt co-operate, but still managed 4 pan sized in the only area we could find that was partly sheltered.

long time lurker, first time posting.
We went for an iso fishing session at Bronte last week and it turned out to be one of the best sessions so far this year. We started fishing at 3am, casting out far whole pilchards under iso floats. Straight away we conneted with some monster tailors ranging from 60cm-70cm.
We also managed to land 2 kingies around the 70cm mark which was an unusual catch during the night.
When the sun started to rise, we had switched to spinning outfits and caught a few bonito and frigate mackerel.
At around 7am we switched to iso fishing and were targeting blackfish and drummer. For a good 5 hours we landed a mixed bag of blackfish, pigs ranging from 45cm-53cm and some bream. The drummer were a nice challenge on the light 10lb iso fishing outfit.
Gear used: 5.3m Iso Rods, Daiwa Lever-Brake Reels in 2500 size, 10lb Floating Line, size 0 - 3B iso floats
