Do they say..."Hey you in the baby-shit green tinny, you just ran over my Marlin"?
Believe me Bilko we are all being bombarded by radio waves, all the time, that's why Ranger wore a foil hat so the Govt. / aliens couldn't read his mind.
I believe he's recovered from his abduction / anal probe.
Hey guys, I'm in the throws of getting the licence so I can activate my DSC. The handbook can be purchased through various websites but is also a free download off the AMC Website. The AMC website also contains a number of registered examiners. There are heaps based in Vic. I've linked up with one near my home. I have not sat the exam yet but am told by the examiner that allot of people self learn and then sit an exam. The guy I have linked up is very helpful, volunteers with the coastguard and is happy for me to sit the exam in his office one day (during his day job!) at a mutually convenient time. Cost of the exam and certificate is quoted at around $80. Hope this helps.
Sat the exam this morning. Was a pretty easy process guys. Downloaded the manual free from the AMC website. There is a list of examiners on this website also. Looked up the closest to me and struck gold. Top bloke who let me sit the exam in his office. Exam went back to AMC today and all going well they will send me the certificate (MROVCP) Tues/Wed. Then this goes to The AMSA with the MMSI application. AMSA tell me within about 10 days I will have the MMSI.
Even if you did not want the MROVCP it is worth having a read of the manual. I think anyone who reads the manual or goes through the process will only treat the VHF with the utmost respect.

Update - Sat exam Friday. MROVCP received before lunch Monday (88% score - I know its not a top score, but its a good pass from someone who only read the downloaded manual a couple of times before sitting the exam!). MMSI application sent to AMSA Monday. MMSI received this morning. Says alot about how efficient AMC and AMSA are - they run like clockwork. All up cost me $80 with no yearly / renewal fees applicable. Recommend the process to anyone - pretty simple and only need to do it once.
