Im buying a new trailer... need help please

Hi,
Im am selling my current aluminium boat and trailer and about to buy a barcrusher 670c. They want to sell me a easytow trailer. Im just a bit worried about gal trailers as my current 2006 brooker trailer is almost due for a re-gal.

Was looking at aluminium one... any problems people can tell me with them. I hear cracking of the welds is one. I guess this is a gal v aluminium debate.

What do you guys recommend and which brands... just wanna try and make the correct decision when buying from new.. Thanks

dangles I dont have any experience of aluminium trailers, but it seems you gal trailer has not lasted all that well, and given the right cleaning and protection they should last a lot longer than 5 years. But as a matter of interest whats the price difference of aluminium vs. galvanised?

The easytow setup on the BC is excellent. The best towing trailer I have towed. Towed a 610 and 670
launch and retrieve excellent too. mine was stored in marina so always salt air and looked great still after 12 months there.
u can use salt away etc if worried about looking after it and some spray heavily with Inox etc when 1st brought and every 12 months
I have a dunbier alloy at moment and tows average. Had new mackay b4 that and gal looked average after 2 years.

I would have the easy tow from BC

I have only had the brooker for 2 years of the 5-6 years. I know that i have always washed it down after every use, dont know how the previous owner treated it.

I havent actually gotten any price difference between the alu and gal at this stage. Was hoping to get some feed back from people who have an aluminium trailer, see what there experiences were.

If you are after alloy get in contact with PHA marine they custom make thier trailers and from all reports they are very good, if I had the extra cash I would have put one under my boat.

I spend more time using my boat/ trailer than cleaning it and have never been a big one on giving the trailer more than a spray with the hose. Sure, you get a bit of oxidisation but not really any rust than I know of and have had one of the trailers for 20 years in October. Not sure what the fuss is about but perhaps they don't make em like they used to.

IMO the EasyTow is the best. I had the Mackay, keel roller, brought brand new and while it's was ok, it was always hard to get off the trailer, even straight out of the factory.

My mates have the Easy Tow and I rate them. Definitely be my next one. They are however more expensive (slightly) than the other steel trailers.

I have no experience with Ally so can't comment, except could be handy to get you under a weight threshold.

ive got an aluminium trailer from PHA had it a few months now and im very happy with the trailer it was custom made to suit my needs its the best trailer ive ever used daniel is a good bloke i would recomend him anytime...........ive had new mackay dunbier and easytow trailers over the years they were all ok but just ok nothing special.....
