Yes I have caught them, but they have been more of an 'incidental' capture rather than a targeted species. The whiting (sand whiting) were caught on gulp 2" shrimp and worm patterns using #4 jig heads on typically sandy / weed patch bottom.

Thanks for the reply Theshpleen i'm trying the gulp worm patterns on the next fishing trip so we'll see how they go. |

Caught around 35 KG's PPB and Andersons Inlet over summer on nothing but Gulp Sandworms and Berkley Nymphs.
Didn't fish a jig head, ran a small ball sinker as small as current would allow down to a longshank size 4 with similar size longshank stinger for the Sandworms.
Single Size4 with a pea sinker for the Nymphs... a good deal of mullet by catch on this too...
Very slow retrieve, actually almost no retrieve shake and stop. Repeat. |

| Worms with a hook at the top end and a smaller stinger hook in the tail will give you better hook ups as you may find the pickets will take your tail without the hook up. I tie the stinger with 6lb mono to the jig head, the stinger hook is a small hook from my fly tying gear. Works a treat! |
