I haven't met you but I have not heard anyone that does come out with a bad word. I remember as a boy living opposite the Werribee South ramp and had a chat with your Dad who was coming in from a late Sun arvo session on the whiting, I asked him why he had a baseball bat next to him while he winched up his boat, he told me that he is big enough to protect himself but when people starting threatening the family this is just not on. That memory has been with me for near on 25 years now and now that I am a family man I can fully understand his logic. It really pains me that you are copping similar treatment that is so unwarranted.
The tall poppy syndrome in this country can be a curse but good on you for thumbing your nose and getting on with what you love to do. There are always a few idiots that spoil it for everyone. _________________ Cheers

I think there will be plenty trying on the weekend, there out there but there is a lot of water in between them. If the sea is good I might go for a blue eye drop and flick some lures around on the way home.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on this but what is the accepted way approach to targetting these blue eye. How deep? What baits? etc Any tricks.
Kel
Any where between two hundred and fifty to seven hundred meters, fresh tuna with the skin on. If you havn't got a mark from someone you will have to take pot luck or have a sounder with a 1kwt tranny and look for sharp drop offs.
Kel, there are all sort of bities down deep.... Anything from Frost Fish (giant looking couta) to sharks of plenty of types....
The heavy leader stops most bite off's....
Trust me, the last thing you want is a bite off in 400 metres...
The Duralite Diamonds are small strobe lights that have a neon flash when they come in contact with water.... They last for 250 hours, well so they say....
We run 130Lb Braid as a main line and 400lb leader with 2 hooks as per Vic Regs.
Re sinkers, depending on current / breeze we use either a 1/2 size red bull can or lead or a full size red bull can ....Some people use old window sash weights...
Have a look at the solas propellers group websites for details on more of the gear.... re the duralite diamonds try www.swordfishoutfitters.com.au
