Did an overnight er to avoid the ramp rage for the Cottesloe to Rottnest island swim.
Moored it in the marina, slept like a log and well on time for the race.

The 4am choppy ride to the start with a great many boats going slow because of the chop was as smooth and fast as a ride on the freeway, blasting past a great many of them!
After the event the hull did not have a drop of water in the bilge, always good to know it is still as it should be.

my old mans best mate had a Savage Sceptre about 19 1/2 foot 1/2 cab, she brought us home in some terrible weather the old beast.
it was the only 1 I ever saw any one else remember this hull

Yes there was a high spring tide happening.
The pic was taken before I put the mooring lines on properly and went to sleep

i have stayed at the sorento resort a few times and i was pretty sure you would have woken up with a fair thud on the floor when she tilted over

Well Savage Bluefin boat is getting a new Mercruiser 4.5Ltr V6 MPI driveline package installed as we speak!
Instead of 130HP @ the prop we will have 220HP @ the prop.
auto pilot, new digital everything but difficult choice between Raymarine and Simrad NS systems.
Simrad seems to be the better option.
Cannot wait till it is all done and we can go and fish/watch the whale migration.
Was out there last friday on it's last ride (aprox 45km's from the W coast) and there were whales everywhere, just awsome!

topspeed was 60km/h with the old donk, wonder what it will be with double the power.
I imagine it will just tickle over doing cruising speed

I really need to get a few pics of my Savage out at sea, off some friends....
There's a great one hooked to a big stripe off Port Stephens

But this'll do for the purpose of the topic here and now.

Original old Savage...

Restored to centre console sports fisher...

It was a great project to take on, as an amateur rebuild.
A lot of work, but a lot of fun and well worth it in the end.

DG

I still remember that rebuild thread very well Doug. For me it is my favourite rebuild that i have seen to date. Just a rippin' outcome!
