Looking for a new car to tow the barcrusher 560, weight is only aprox 1500kg loaded with fuel currently towing with commodore ute which has max towing of 1600 the problem is when doing a trip away all clothing and gear goes in back of ute and risks getting wet if raining and i think the extra weight reduces the max towing limit. Going for a twin cab turbo diesel it has a bit more power down low in rev range but i dont know how reliable these trucks are has anyone got one who can tell me of their performance
The navara has a smaller engine but produces more torque does this mean it works harder and has a shorter life expectancy
thanks

thanks vee233
i will try to wait for the new d-max then make my decision
the new colerado looks good with 3.5 ton towing i guess the d-max will have the same body and interior but the colerado is about 53 grand i think it runs a fiat motor im sure the d-max will be better value with the isuzu motor

I drove the colorado before buying other. Didn't like the gear box in the manual, main issue. That was late 09 so maybe improved? Consider a drive in the Ranger or BT50. Isuzu look good too. Few Nissan issues get posted here. _________________

Pretty sure your info is correct. Not sure what the hell they are doing but they seem very scared about getting supply numbers right and having stock sitting around not selling. I was at Ford a few weeks ago and asked where's the new Ranger. Didn't even have a sample to show me and said what is available is getting snapped up by the bigger organisations. Seems the market has been scared for a while. When I got mine 9/09 was quite a wait. _________________

Hi,i have recently got a 2011 Dmax 4x4 auto dual cab.I just got back from towing up to South west rocks about 400ks from home.I tow a Savage mako 5.5 cuddy approx tow weight 1470 kgs plus in the ute i had two dogs, freezer ,all other associated gear and my wife. The car towed it no worries used between 13.8/14.4 ltrs per 100 ks.I had a 2009 mazda BT50 xtra cb manual which i traded in on the Isuzu ,the mazda has fair bit more torque but comparing the two manual vs auto there really wasnt much diff between the two.I towed the boat with the auto in drive on all but the biggest hills in which i pulled it back into 3rd and that way it wasn,t searching for gears. All good so far.

Go talk to your local arb dealer and look in their fitting bays
That should explain why Mazda can't keep up with demand
Penrith arb told me that bt-50 / rangers were 30 percent of the vehicles they handle now and growing
We have three new ones on order for work atm
I have the old model in auto it would pull my 1.2 tonne kart trailer up my Victoria on 80 and allow me to over take people
The new one has a extra 100 m of tourqe |

I read an article on the new Colorado which has been launched in Thailand already. It appears it is below the Ranger / BT50. The engine is noisy, some of the panels didn't fit or close properly. It is also down on KW and torque from the Ford.
Can you believe they used the old Ranger as their bench mark as the car hadn't been released at the time they started designing it. |

Found this rant on a different website
DONT BUY A NAVARA
the hilux & patrol have a realistic towing rating i braught a navara at the start of the year biggest $40000 piece of crap you can lay your hands on its got 7000kms on it now has been to nissan 6 times 2 different dealer ships & im not impressed i know other people that have them & theres 2 out of 8 that like them & having no dramas the list goes smokes more than my old cruiser with 580000 on it rattles like a 20 l drum with rocks in it if you go on a corrigated rd dont go over 20 kms an hour because you dont have any brakes you have to pump the peddle 5/6 times to get your peddle back & thats at 20 kmh just thats a safe speed so you dont hit any thing rear door seals dont seal so get ready for lots of cleaning when you go off rd dont belive the fuel rating it doesnt even come close oh year keep all your fuel reciets & only fill up at shell or bp because they will try & say the smoking engine is your fault cause you put dodgy fuel in it mate got stung with that one think it was 8k for another pump i might be wrong with the price there but i swear thats what he said another mate has had 3 clutches in his its done 30k oh yeah & today my brake peddle sinks to the floor when your at traffic lights i rang them but apparently thats normal as well & they wont fix that either im seeing a lawer atm & will be contacting to nissan australia to see what there responce is but there bigger inside & confier than a hilux i think thats the only good thing i can say about it but apparently all the faults ive listed it hasnt got any of them & it drives & sounds like a navara to them & they cant replicate corrigate roads so they cant test that fault
i left it with them for two weeks & told them to take it fishing or go for a drive & find some so they could rectify it but no i get it back with a couple of new noises less power & a little bit more $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% $%$% off well thats my take on a navara
