Last season some government body decided to advertise fishing spots on the delatite river. This season I've been disapointed to see the river raped of almost every fish from the advertised areas as well as the surrounding pools.

My initial thought was this must be general public who have little regard of conserving the fish stocks.

To my horror I've found on more than one occasion that fly fishermen have been keeping EVERYTHING they catch.

Coming to the end of the season it's dissapointing to find very little fish left in any hole along the delatite river at Merrijig.

My message is, PLEASE practise catch and release. I truly love this river and it pains me to see experianced fisherman keeping babies.

Hi Steve,

During the summer peak season it was 2 fly fishermen from NSW that I busted with very undersize fish.

If this was the river or lake YOU cnsidered your local spot and saw this happening (regardless of fish species) I'm sure you'd be just as annoyed as me.

Exact scenario i have over here in WA.
If it is not the "Fly in Fly out" workers raping the place, it is all the "Grey Nomads" on their annual pilgrimage around Oz. They gotta kill as much as they can to make the trip "pay off" angry-fish.gif

Why any self respecting NSW flyfisher or any other fisho would want to fish in Vic is beyond me. Be really good if we could keep out all the mexicans from fishing the thredbo and euc rivers at seasons end and spawning time, walking all over redds, taking numbers of fish, taking undersized fish, throwing fish on the banks that are then in no condition for return to the water, etc etc, flyrodders , spinners, drftriggers. See, you guys have em too! Hope it was only natives that got trashed, uninteresting bland things they be. Who needs them, bout time to break out the flannos again eh Zob????
